Born in Montreal Canada, Matt Smiley's first passion was ski-racing – becoming a competitive skier until the age of 16 and winning several competitions across Canada.

In high school, he turned his attention to acting, nabbing the challenging role of "Cleante" in Moliere's, "The Imaginary Invalid." From that point on, he was hooked!

Shortly thereafter, Matt landed his first feature film, "The Secret Pact," directed by Rodney Gibbons for HBO, starring Rider Strong. This led him into several projects, including Youth Television's (YTV), "Are you Afraid of the Dark," "Believe," with Elisha Cuthbert (Fox's "24"), and "Chasing Holden," opposite Rachel Blanchard and DJ Qualls.

Most recently, his memorable performance as the troubled character of "Ken-Antoine" in the Canadian-Japanese Co-production "Kamataki," won several awards, including Best Director & Most Popular Audience Award at the Montreal Film Festival; Special Mention at The Berlin Film Festival, and The Audience Award at The Palm Springs Film Festival. Variety magazine called Matt's performance "a quiet jewel of unarticulated grief augmented by dawning confidence."

In his private time, Matt likes to work out, write, read, and go on long hikes with his dog River. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
